RUSH To Part Ways With ATLANTIC RECORDS?

According to a posting on the unofficial RUSH site RushIsABand.com, the legendary Canadian rock trio is negotiating a new record deal with Rounder Records to take effect following the completion of the band's longtime relationship with Atlantic Records.

RUSH has been with Atlantic Records since 1989's "Presto" and has released a total of seven studio and four live albums under this label. The group's final release for Atlantic will apparently be a greatest-hits record covering the band's 20-year history with the company. It will be titled "Rush: 1989-2009" and will include some previously unreleased live Atlantic tracks in addition to several studio hits from the last 20 years.

Rounder is said to be one of the biggest independent record labels in the United States with a roster of artists that includes BRUCE COCKBURN, GEORGE THOROGOOD AND THE DESTROYERS, ALISON KRAUSS, THEY MIGHT BE GIANTS and THE TRAGICALLY HIP.

RUSH's most recent concert leg wrapped July 24 in Indianapolis, Indiana. The group has been out behind its 18th studio album, "Snakes & Arrows", which marked RUSH's first set of all-new material since 2002's "Vapor Trails".

RUSH's songs "Closer to the Heart" and "Working Man" were recently made available for the Rock Band video game.

RUSH will receive a star on Hollywood's Walk of Fame next year.
